Here is my entry to win a free ticket to Fashion PR Confidential. Unfortunately I was runner up and did not win. I am grateful for the opportunity and will still be attending Fashion Pr Confidential on June 1 - June 2, 2013 in Hollywood!! Here is what my submission read:
CSUB Senior, Grace Vega makes her mark on the fashion andpublic relations industry with her attendance at the 2013 Fashion PR Confidential Los Angeles.
I have always had an aspiration to be in the fashion world.I can remember being at the age of 7 and knowing how to fully operate a sewingmachine and how to hand sew, because my grandmother had taught me while she hadbeen making her own clothes. I often read fashion blogs such as Dulce Candy andPR Couture. I also subscribe to fashion magazines such as Vogue and InStyle.Fashion has just always been a part of my life and is what defines me.
I attended FIDMLos Angeles in 2006 and graduated with an AA in Merchandise Product Developmentin 2008. While attending FIDM, I took on an internship with Hot Kiss, at theirshowroom in Downtown Los Angeles. I am currently a senior at CSUB and will be graduatingin June 2013 with a BA in Communications, Public Relations and a minor inMarketing. I have been a member of PRSSA since February of 2012 and haveenjoyed every minute of it. I am currently Historian for CSUB PRSSA, where Itake pictures at the different events that PRSSA helps organize. I have alsotaken on two internships in PR. Summer of 2012 I was with Kern Green where Iorganized and planned out an awards banquet, along with an event with the GirlsScouts of the USA. This quarter I am with Houchin Community Blood Bank, where Iassist with press releases and creating event flyers. I have also been involvedin putting on local fashion shows in my hometown.
March 2012, I attended Simply Stylist in Los Angeles. Theseminar consisted of top stylist, designers, fashion bloggers and magazineeditors that discussed the latest trends and also their own personal journeyson how they earned their success. Attending Fashion PR Confidential would meana great deal to me. I have always had a drive to find a career in the fashionindustry and be a part of the fashion world.
Growing up I kept journals with cut outs from magazines of ads and clothing that I loved along with a bin full of textiles, buttons and hardware. A goal of mine would be to combine both of my degrees along with my passion for fashion, and find a job that would allow me to do what I love. The knowledge that I would gain from being a part of Fashion PR Confidential wouldhelp me to fully grasp the concept of Public Relations and allow me to learn about the industry. It would help me reach my goal to work in fashion PR.
